The federal government is cutting funding for a public internet access program, CBC News has learned.


One of the largest academic publishers in the world has withdrawn its support from a controversial U.S. bill that could restrict public access to published, publicly-funded research, following a boycott by thousands of researchers around the world.


Canadian government scientists are still being hampered from talking to the media about their taxpayer-funded research and that's bad news for the public, say groups representing both journalists and federal scientists.

Wikipedia's Jimmy Wales is to help the UK government make the academic research it funds freely available to all.

The federal integrity commissioner has found that a Service Canada manager in Manitoba misused public funds and assets.
