Ottawa - After a disappointing election loss and facing internal party divisions over his ability to lead the party, Canadian Conservative Party leader Andrew Sheer has decided to resign.

The 49-year-old star was rushed to hospital late on the night of Jan. 24 following a 911 call to be treated for "exhaustion."

The Dalai Lama is in stable condition at a private Indian hospital. The Tibetan spiritual leader was admitted on Friday night.
