Early yesterday morning two inmates escaped from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. The two men had been awaiting sentencing following convictions for bank robbery.
An Indiana inmate escaped from his work-release crew after plugging a toilet to cause a diversion. He said he had to retrieve towels from the jail's van, but after he was outside, he walked away. Then he stole a car from a nearby dealership.
