Sheik Salem Ali Jaber preached about the evils of Al-Qaida, warning villagers to stay away from their fighters and radical ideology. Residents feared that they would suffer from retaliation. Even the cleric's father advised him to stop.

More voices are being raised against Obama's policy of drone strikes in Yemen, and elsewhere. Of late, there have been several reports claiming that the drone strikes are counterproductive.

U.S drones struck four times in the last 8 days in Yemen. The attacks killed 29 people. This year alone there have been almost 200 deaths from the strikes. Officially these strikes are not described as U.S. drone attacks as officially they are secret!

Violence continues in Yemen. A U.S. drone strike allegedly killed five Al Qaeda members in eastern Yemen on Saturday. In the city of Jaar a suicide bomber killed at least 45 people in an attack on a funeral of a pro-government tribesman.
