President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa has vowed to release 130,000 Tamils inside the internal displacement camps by December 1 and the camps will be completely closed by the end of January 2010.

Members of Canadian Parliament, Bob Rae, Jack Layton and Olivia Chow appeared at the Tamil protests in front of the Sri Lankan Consulate to show their support of the movement to immediately free Tamils from the internal displacement camps.

Saturday marked the 178th day since demonstrations began in front of the United States Consulate in Toronto and also the 150th day since displacement camps for the Tamil people in Sri Lanka started. Hundreds of protesters walked the streets of Toronto.
