The country’s newest veterans are filing for disability benefits at a historic rate, claiming to be the most medically and mentally troubled generation of former troops the nation has ever seen.

The Inspector General of the Office of Personnel Management reports the federal government has paid out more then $600 million in retirement and disability benefits to deceased federal workers and the problem doesn't appear correctable in the near future.
Millions of people who end up disabled either from an accident or disease turn to the federal government for Social Security disability payments every year. This is a benefit that every worker who is declared eligible is able to receive.
