350 ducks now dead after landing in Syncrude tailing pond

Fort Mcmurray - The number of ducks which have died after they flew into two tailing ponds owned by Syncrude Monday has risen to 350. Syncrude had originally said around 200 ducks had landed in the tailings pond.

Fort Mcmurray - On October 22, a judge ordered Syncrude to pay $3 million in fines after the company had been found guilty of causing the deaths of hundreds of ducks in 2008.

Syncrude guilty on charges related to deaths of 1,600 ducks

Edmonton - Judge Ken Tjosvold made a landmark ruling Friday when he found Syncrude guilty on two separate charges laid in the deaths of 1,600 ducks. The ducks died in a Syncrude tailings pond in 2008.

Syncrude shows its teeth as trial gets underway over dead ducks

After being charged by the Province of Alberta and the Government of Canada in early 2009 for the deaths of hundreds of ducks in one of Syncrude's waste ponds in the spring of 2008, the case got underway on Monday.

Greenpeace Demands Independent Inquiry into Alberta Duck Deaths

Greenpeace demanded that Premier Ed Stelmach immediately launch a public inquiry under the Alberta Public Inquiries Act to investigate the deaths of 500 birds at the Syncrude tailings ponds.
