350 ducks now dead after landing in Syncrude tailing pond

Fort Mcmurray - The number of ducks which have died after they flew into two tailing ponds owned by Syncrude Monday has risen to 350. Syncrude had originally said around 200 ducks had landed in the tailings pond.

Fort Mcmurray - On October 22, a judge ordered Syncrude to pay $3 million in fines after the company had been found guilty of causing the deaths of hundreds of ducks in 2008.

Edmonton - Judge Ken Tjosvold made a landmark ruling Friday when he found Syncrude guilty on two separate charges laid in the deaths of 1,600 ducks. The ducks died in a Syncrude tailings pond in 2008.
