Ontario will reduce the number of health services covered by medicare as the Liberal government looks to cut costs and trim a $16-billion deficit.

The federal government is planning to make cuts at Veterans Affairs without fully understanding what the results of those cuts will be, says the union representing workers in the department.

The New Brunswick government cut the deficit in half to $183 million, using mostly a combination of program cuts, small revenue hikes and incremental reductions in the civil service.
