A report by the Pentagon finds that partial remains of some 9/11 victims ended up in a military landfill site after being cremated at a US air base.
Now the deceased, when they step into the great beyond, can do so without leaving behind a carbon footprint. In what may be the last word in 'going green,' a handful of funeral homes are offering an alternative to 'flame' cremation. Called alkaline hydrolysis, it uses lye and hot water to liquefy the loved-one, then sends him down the drain.
The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carries some extra cargo: the cremated ashes of 300 souls. They include James Doohan (Scotty of 'Star Trek' fame) and Gordon Cooper, one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts.
