Stevenage - In the year that Queen Elizabeth II is marking 60 years on the throne, North Hertfordshire College held an indoor street party with 1950s dress and food rationing tickets for a buffet serving food and drink straight from the year 1952.

Coronation Street continued to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a live episode on December 9, with some of the character’s dying during the programme.

In a scene which brought tears to the eyes of viewers, long-time Coronation Street favourite Jack Duckworth died in an armchair and danced with his wife Vera, who died about three years ago.

Coronation Street fans will soon be able to listen to an album, featuring past and present cast members of the show and the Royal Philharmonic orchestra.

William Roache, who is known to Coronation Street fans as Ken Barlow, was honoured for being the world's longest-serving soap actor. He has been with the show since its first episode.
