When the fledgling Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recently collected consumer complaints about credit cards, one of the over-arcing themes was confusion over the terms of the cards. Whether consumers were complaining that their interest rate suddenly went up or that they were charged a penalty fee, it often came down to one thing: they didn't understand the contract. And in credit card land, using the card constitutes agreeing to the contract, so you're stuck.
With many Americans struggling to pay their bills one business is booming: debt collectors. But many consumers say the collectors are taking their tactics too far. The Federal Trade Commission received a record number of complaints about debt collectors last year -- nearly 181,000. second only to complaints about identity theft.
It's not just Donald Trump who's yelling "You're fired!" Consumer Reports, in its May issue, says a third of its subscribers fired their supermarket in the past year. In an article titled 'Best & Worst Supermarkets,' some 24,200 readers get a chance to vent about 42,700 shopping experiences. More than half say they have at least one complaint about their current store, and almost a third have two or more.
