For Roberto Alomar, Sunday capped off a whirlwind week for the retired second baseman. From being inducted into the Hall of Fame to having his number retired by the Toronto Blue Jays – it was no doubt a special week for him and his family.

It's official: Cito's staying. And I couldn't be happier. We're in for two more years, at least, of The Gastonian one, and I'm saying it now: he will lead us to the playoffs.

Holy crap, that did actually happen last night. I thought I might wake up this morning and realize the Blue Jays' three home runs, 22 hits, and 14-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds yesterday was all one awesome wet dream.

I guess it doesn't matter who's managing the Toronto Blue Jays. They simply cannot score runs. The second Cito Gaston era began last night, and the result was one that Gaston's predecessor John Gibbons was all too familiar with: a 1-0 extra innings loss.

What a day it has been, and it’s only 4 p.m.! For my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, tonight is the dawning of a new era. Perhaps the post-Mats Sundin era. For my beloved Toronto Blue Jays, what was once old is brand new again.
