 The International Olympic Committee confirmed Thursday that the cities of Tokyo, Madrid, Istanbul, Doha and Baku, and Azerbaijan have submitted bids to host the 2020 Olympics.
Russian agents have foiled terror attack plans on the Black Sea resort of Sochi, host of the 2014 Winter Olympics, authorities said Thursday, blaming Chechen separatists and neighboring Georgia of jointly masterminding the plans.
 The IOC has eliminated Doha and Baku from the list of candidates to host the 2020 Olympics. Tokyo, Madrid and Istanbul made the cut as the IOC executive board trimmed the five-city field to a shortlist of three finalists.
London will be one of the most popular destinations this summer as the city gears up to host the 2012 Olympics, which will be sure to draw visitors from all over the globe.
Snagging a hotel room in an Olympic host city is a tricky thing. Search too early, and it appears as if no rooms are available because the host committee blocks far more rooms than it will ever actually need. But wait until the last minute, and you run the risk of only finding a hotel far from the action.
