Caterpillar Headlines

Caterpillar employees in London, Ont., will get a better idea of their severance packages on Friday, after a bitter battle over the Electro-Motive locomotive factory's closure two weeks ago.

Potentially deadly exotic caterpillars are invading Britain, according to the Daily Mail. Tony Kirkham, Head of Arboretum at Kew Gardens explains what they are and their dangers.

The head of the Canadian Auto Workers is suggesting Caterpillar Inc. may not have followed foreign takeover rules in its 2010 purchase of the London, Ont., locomotive plant it has since shut down.

Members of CAW Local 444 are holding an information picket line Thursday morning at the Toromont/Caterpillar dealership in Maidstone.

The CAW and Caterpillar Inc. are negotiating a severance package for the nearly 500 unionized Electro-Motive employees who are out of work, with the union threatening a plant occupation as a 'last resort.'
