At least 70 people had been confirmed dead while more than 600 survivors were rescued in an eight storey building that collapsed Wednesday afternoon in the suburb of Bangladesh capital of Dhaka

A response from the Tanzania Red Cross Society outlines the needs of the local responders in trying to alleviate the suffering by those on the ground at the building collapse.

Dar Es Salaam - A building under construction in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania has collapsed with several fatalities and many missing, including workers and children.

Alexandria - At least 23 people have been confirmed dead after an eight-storey apartment building in Alexandria, Egypt collapsed Wednesday morning.

Nairobi - At least two people have been killed, six have been injured and 14 individuals are unaccounted for after a building collapsed in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. The Red Cross immediately dispatched emergency crews to the scene.

Christchurch - A major quake has done severe damage to the city of Christchurch. One building has been so badly damaged it’s “believed” to have been a hotel. Floors have caved in on top of each other.

At least three people are missing after a building collapsed in Brooklyn, New York. The collapsed building has prompted an emergency response. The apartment building is at Myrtle and Ryerson Streets.

As the death toll mounts at the Haitian school that collapsed on Friday four children were pulled out of the rubble alive on Saturday. There are 88 confirmed deaths.
