Three B.C. dairy farm workers received jail sentences ranging from seven to 60 days after undercover videos showed them physically abusing cows and a bird. The dairy farm and its owner were previously fined for allowing animals to continue in distress.

Last weekend, in the university town of Kingston, Ontario, two men and a woman were charged after it was alleged they slapped a police horse in three separate incidents. The incident involving the woman was caught on video and went viral.

Animal rights groups, the RSPCA, veterinarians and others on social media weighed in after a picture was released showing three-year-old Prince George offering ice cream to the family dog.

When a man found a dog was left in a car on a sweltering day, he took a large rock and smashed a window. The dog seemed happy it was taken out of the car and the couple that left the dog in the car are being investigated by the SPCA.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, a 47-year-old man became angry when his girlfriend's three-year-old puppy had a seizure and began yelping. He allegedly poured hot sauce all over the puppy's body.

A 19-year-old Sarnia, Ontario man was arrested after a cat was found that had been shot 17 times in the head with a pellet gun. The cat is recovering.
