Washington - The governments of Canada and Alberta are hedging their bets on President Obama approving the XL Keystone pipeline. The $64 dollar question is whether President Obama will give the go ahead in the name of North American energy independence.

Vancouver - As environmentalists, mainstream media outlets and politicians fight over the Keystone XL pipeline and the Alberta oilsands development, the coal industry in the United States is slowly gaining momentum.

Edmonton - Alison Redford is on her way to Washington this week amid fierce opposition to the Keystone pipeline project. Redford says she will inform US legislators on Alberta's environmental initiatives on both sides of the issue. Is she flogging a dead horse?

Edmonton - Six years ago Ralph Klein left office with Alberta debt-free floating in surplus cash. Despite a thriving economy low unemployment, the Redford PCs are plunging Alberta back into debt. The province will be borrowing $12.7 billion over three years.

Ottawa - As the decision on the XL Keystone pipeline approaches, Canadian politicians are making a final pitch to US lawmakers in an attempt to convince them that Canada has cleaned up its act when it comes to carbon emissions.

Edmonton - Alberta Premier Alison Redford says more meetings are in the works with U.S. officials as she continues to push for the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline. Both Redford and Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall want to sell Canada's environmental record.

Washington - The whole decision making process for the XL Keystone pipeline seems a moot point, in view of TransCanada's construction of the southern portion of the line. According to TransCanada pipelines, half of the southern portion is almost complete.

Edmonton - With mounting anti-Keystone pipeline protests, Alberta Premier Alison Redford will be traveling to Washington to promote Alberta's environmental record and lobby for the XL Keystone pipeline. Alberta's budget woes make oil sands development essential.

Edmonton - Due to declining oil prices, revenues from oil royalties have decreased significantly, with Alberta losing $75 million a day. The dilemma of budget woes have prompted Alberta Premier Alison Redford to address Albertans.

Calgary - Following the firing of Alberta Health Services (AHS) Chief Financial Officer Allaudin Merali, AHS board member Sheila Weatherill announced her resignation. It was reported that Merali charged taxpayers $350,000 in expenses.
