Portsmouth Harbour, home of the Royal Navy, witnessed a curious site last week as the iconic bridge section of the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier the HMS Queen Elizabeth set sail on a 600 mile journey to the Naval Dockyard at Rosyth in Scotland.

The aircraft carrier Liaoning, named after the province where it was refitted, was formerly a Soviet vessel. A Chinese company purchased the ship from the Ukraine. For now, the ship will just be used for training with no operational aircraft on board.
In a rare overlap, two US aircraft carriers were seen in the Persian Gulf at the same time as the USS Harry S. Truman redeployed from the region to be replaced by the USS Abraham Lincoln.
