Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan have vowed to take revenge against "sick minded American savages" following the murderous rampage of a U.S. soldier who shot 16 Afghan civilians, including nine children.

A new midyear report on civilian deaths in Afghanistan reveals the first six months of 2011 showed 1,462 killed, a 15 percent increase over the same period a year ago, and the deadliest period since the war began in 2001.
Kandahar -
The government of Canada have compensated Afghan civilians who were stuck in crossfire between Canadian armed forces and armed combatants. Canada has paid out $1 million for deaths, injuries and damages that civilians sustained.
As the US occupation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate, 12 US soldiers are facing various charges over their involvement of murdering at random a number of Afghan civilians and then keeping body parts as trophies.
Kandahar -
Five United States soldiers have been charged with targeting Afghan civilians in the Kandahar province. The troops were accused of murdering three people in June. One allegedly formed a "kill team" that randomly targeted Afghans.
