article imageOnePlus One general release scheduled for June

The much anticipated 'One' smartphone by OnePlus is already making its way to 100 lucky early adopters. For those not brave enough to smash their phones, the general release is coming up as well.
After months of ramping up hype and excitement, OnePlus finally brought their phone out to the market. Only, not everybody can buy it right now. Their current "Smash" contest going on right now provides the opportunity for daredevils to smash their current smartphone and buy the OnePlus One for just $1.
For those not willing to part ways with their current smartphones, the wait isn't long. The OnePlus One will reach general availability in June going on sale in most countries in the North American, European, and Asian markets.
The retail price starts at $299 (£178, AU$322) for the 16GB model, or $349 (£207, AU$376) for the 64GB option. The device will be sold much like the Google Nexus smartphone line; there will not be any carrier specific models. Buyers can secure their own One handset through the OnePlus website.
However, an invite is still needed to have access to purchase. OnePlus forecasts the difficulty of securing a device won't be great and by June, everybody should have a device or in the process of getting an invite for a device.
Of course, the storage size capacity still dictates the model versions. The 16 GB Silk White model is expected to arrive mid to late May while the 64 GB Sandstone Black will arrive slightly later in June.
