article imageMIT creates device that gives you two additional robotic fingers

By Walter McDaniel     Jul 18, 2014 in Technology
Robotics experts are working on a way to give you more fingers which you can wear. Why should you settle for five fingers when you can have seven?
The device tracks hand movement to control the robotic fingers. Ideally you will be able to stir a drink while holding it or carry extra bags with the fingers. You can read about the story yourself on the MIT site as well.
Dubbed the "7 Finger Robot" researchers are now testing its capabilities. With minor adjustments they hope to create a device that fastens to your hand and moves perfectly in sync with it. Robotic synchronization is not perfect yet but many scientists are working on it.
MIT researchers also have many other projects related to improving human lives. Indeed, the personal robots group of researchers focuses solely on how cybernetic beings can help us. Social communications and physical interactions are major topics of interest. Ideas get around while trying to create the most useful version of robot for your home.
Many different companies and organizations want to create the first highly advanced robot which can safely be used by families. We already have some simple ones in our homes.
