article imageMarijuana breathalyzer invented

By Walter McDaniel     Jun 17, 2014 in Technology
Ex-British Columbia RCMP Officer Kal Malhi recently invented a breathalyzer for marijuana. He apparently created this as a response to those who drive under the influence of marijuana.
Malhi is calling his device the Cannabix Breathalyzer. He believes that if it makes it into the hands of law enforcement this test will dissuade people from driving under the influence. The reasoning is that right now people do not want to drink and drive but they will smoke and drive until a test comes along. It works in much the same way as the original breathalyzer.
The device was made with Dr. Raj Attariwala, a radiologist and his partner on the project. They are currently testing the device but have reported promising findings to their local media. Their intent is to create a reliable device which can tell if someone smoked in the last 2 hours.
There is currently a fierce debate over how marijuana impacts driving. Sites and scientists are posting information both for one side and for the other. You should read all the scientific studies and come to your own conclusions.
