While no word if another Nexus smartphone will make its way to the market, the Nexus 9 tablet seems to be a sure bet. The source image was leaked with a series of speculated specs.
Code-named "Volantis", the Nexus 9 is expected to be made by HTC continuing with the Google product line. Android Police advises against treating this information as a rumor as several sources and source image leaks suggests this tablet is confirmed.
According to their sources, the specifications have definitely been kicked up a notch. A higher price tag can also be expected along with the higher specifications.
The Nexus 9 is expected to feature an aluminum zero-gap construction with tapered sides. Not completely sure what the aim is, we can expect a similar HTC One like uni-body construction.
The 8.9 inch screen size will feature a 2048x1440, 281ppi resolution. A scratch-resistant Corning glass, similar to existing Nexus 7, can also be expected.
The tablet will feature 2 GB of RAM and a 16/32 GB variation model internal storage. All powered by a 64-bit NVIDEA Logan also known as the NVIDEA K1, which, benchmark tests by Antutu shows, destroyed the Snapdragon 801 competition.
Similar to the HTC One, the Nexus 9 will have integrated front-facing speakers as well as 3-megapixel front and 8-megapixel OIS back cameras. Currently there is no word on the micro-SD card slot.
In terms of price, the 16 GB Wi-Fi model is expected to sit around $399 and the 32 GB Wi-Fi model at $499. LTE models are expected to go upwards to $600+.
