HP’s new laptops and all-in-ones have almost invisible bezels

HP launched its refreshed line-up of Pavilion PCs today. The established name is now aimed at students, millennials and families, according to the company. The devices aim to deliver productivity and style in one package.
All of the computers include new colour options that are bolder than HP has offered before. There’s Intel’s sixth-generation processors, ranging from the basic Pentium to the premium Core i7, battery improvements and a thinner and lighter design.

HP’s traditional 14-inch and 15.6-inch Pavilion notebooks are now 11-22 percent thinner and lighter compared to the previous generation. The starting weight is now 3.3lbs and 4.26lbs respectively, coupled with a thickness of 19.5mm and 22.5mm.

The laptops are available with dedicated graphics chips for improved gaming and video editing performance. NVIDIA’s GeForce 940MX, 950M or 960M are available with Intel processors. AMD’s Radeon R7 is the only option for the AMD A12-9700P chip.
Memory options scale up to 16GB and storage is available in configurations of up to 512GB of SSD and 2TB of hard drive. The two can be combined for dual storage with a 128GB SSD and 2TB of storage. The Pavilion now features an edge-to-edge display with optional touch support for an immersive viewing experience.

The Pavilion x360 convertible has seen similar improvements. The 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch models can be configured with an optional backlit keyboard, there’s up to 16GB of memory and 512GB of SSD storage, and your choice of Intel Celeron, Pentium or Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.

The display has a 720p HD resolution by default but a 1080p Full HD panel can be configured on the 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch models. Battery life is up to above nine hours depending on variant, a very respectable run time for a convertible device.
Pavilion All-in-One
HP has also announced two new all-in-one PCs for the home. These feature a 23.8-inch or 27-inch display, sixth-generation Intel processors with optional NVIDIA graphics or an AMD chip, storage options up to 3TB and memory up to 16GB.

The IPS displays are available in edge-to-edge or “micro edge” variants. The already thin bezels of the edge-to-edge model are reduced further by micro edge, cutting off a further 75 percent of the border for an almost invisible frame. The effect should make movies and games more immersive by bringing the action out into the room.
As a final option, the all-in-ones can be configured with an Intel RealSense camera for use with Windows Hello. The feature lets you sign-in to the PC almost instantly as the camera scans your irises to authenticate you.
“Affordability and options” from HP
The new computers are HP’s latest effort to demonstrate that PCs aren’t going away anytime soon. The devices are priced competitively with the Pavilion x360 starting at $379.99, the Pavilion at $539.99 and the Pavilion All-in-One at $699.99 for the smallest, lowest spec model of each.
“Some customers want thin and light PCs for on the go while other customers want power and performance to create and store,” said Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, consumer personal systems, HP Inc. “HP’s redesigned Pavilion PCs offer affordability and a variety of options for customers to get the functionality they need in a PC packed with style and personality.”

The mini tower is aimed at homes and small businesses and supports up to two displays, up to 16GB of memory and 3TB of storage and sixth-generation Intel processors up to the Core i7 or seventh-generation AMD processors up to the A12.
