article imageGoogle now recognizes Bitcoin calculations in conversion searches

By James Walker     Jul 16, 2014 in Internet
Google has added direct support for converting to and from the Bitcoin crypto-currency into its search engine, making it easier than ever to view the current price of Bitcoin.
It means that you can now type something similar to "$500 in bitcoin", or vice versa, into the search engine and get an instant result, as with other currencies. You can also type "price of bitcoin" or "price of btc" to instantly view the current value of one coin in your local currency.
The addition, although minor, further signifies how digital currencies such as Bitcoin and Dogecoin are now finally beginning to gain more wide-spread acceptance and emerge from the dark corridors of the Internet that they formerly resided in.
As increasing numbers of real retailers now begin allowing payments in Bitcoin, perhaps it won't be long until the famously-volatile currency sees some more real-life usage.
