Numerous supposed insiders have reported various features coming to the upcoming iPhone, so it’s time to look at who’s saying what.
Appleinsider cites a report by Brian Marshall, an analyst at ISI group, who believes that Apple’s next big phone will be literally bigger.
Marshall believes “large-screen envy” is driving those looking to upgrade their phones to switch to Android. Current Apple phones are 4 inches thick, much smaller compared to the almost 5.5-inch thick Samsung Galaxy S4.
His prediction is that Apple will launch two versions of their new phone, one at 4.7 inches and the other at 5.5 inches.
Meanwhile, BGR is reporting a slew of supposed features of the new model, as per reports by Sonny Dickson. The first rumour says that the iPhone 6 could be a mere 0.22 inches thick, making it the thinnest phone yet. As some users have pointed out, this may have an adverse effect on battery life.
The screen will supposedly be an Ultra-Retina screen with a pixel density of 389 pixels per inch (ppi). The phone may also have an A8 processor clocked at 2.6GHz.
The display would have a resolution somewhere between 720p and 1080p.
Finally, CNET is reporting one feature predicted by analyst Sun Changxu of ESM-China.
His report suggests that Apple will be adding a weather sensor that can measure temperature, humidity and air pressure. This would be a case of Apple playing catch-up with Samsung; the Galaxy S4 has this feature and premiered on the market nearly a year ago.
In related news, the new iPhone is expected to go into production in the second quarter, according to CNET. Apparently Apple partner Pegatron is opening up new factory space and hiring new workers, which may indicate production starting very soon.
Apple did not reply to CNET’s request for comment.
