Apple Watch Edition buyers to skip lines, do ‘shopping journey’

When the Apple Watch rolls out on April 24, those with their heart set on the high-end, 18-karat-gold Apple Watch Edition won’t have to wait in long lines at the Apple Store.

Mashable reports these buyers with $10,000–$17,000 to spare will be able to skip lines and even try out the watches in a private room. According to a 9to5Mac report, this means interested buyers will have appointments that can last up to an hour with a certified Apple Watch expert. This will include a personalized “shopping journey” to help find the perfect watch.

The rooms will be in a private area from the rest of the store, but to discourage theft customers will only be able to try on up to two watches at a time. Additionally, Edition shoppers can access an exclusive phone line to Apple technical staff for two years after the purchase. Interested customers can also videoconference with employees from their own homes; this will be available to regular Apple Watch buyers as well, but not for those interested in the Sport.

Since all three Apple Watch models feature the same features, the Verge reports, Apple is doing what it can to convince customers of the merit of its higher-priced models. While the Edition models go for at least $10,000, the Sport starts at $349 while the standard Apple Watch starts at $599.
