article imageApple is gearing up for iPhone 6 and here's what you need to know

Rumor has it that the next generation iPhone 6 will debut in September. While the actual date is unknown, image and feature leaks having been popping up online.
It appears Apple is hoping "bigger is better." The iPhone 6 speculation seems to be focused on a bigger touch screen display considering iPhones generally having the smallest screen size compared to all other smartphones on the market.
Analysts predict Apple will beef up the iPhone 6 display to 4.7 and 5.5 inches, which also suggests at least a two model variation. A larger screen will also enable Apple to fit a bigger battery improving the usage time between charges.
Why did Apple hold off on a 5-inch iPhone? Some predict it may impact the sales of Apple's iPad Mini product line as there won't be much of a difference with a smaller tablet and bigger iPhone.
However, with larger-screen devices covering one-third of the market and Samsung dominating with their Galaxy releases, Apple will be forced to go bigger, literally.
Resolution still unknown, but the 4.7 inch display is said to have a pixel density of 416 while the larger 5.5 inch display will have a 365 DPI. Sapphire glass was already used over the camera sensor and cover of the Touch ID sensor and it looks like Apple is prepping it for an unbreakable display screen.
Apple even has a oleophobic anti-smudge patent for its sapphire glass so as to leave no oily finger prints on the display. This could also translate into an improvement in their Touch ID security feature as it would be much harder to lift off fingerprints.
Possible part leaks hints at a continuation in the three color variations for the iPhone 6. Color variations may very likely continue as gold, space grey, and silver.
The part leaks also hints at a slightly different composure for the body. The edges and sides are expected to be rounded off leaving a smoother finish.
Bad news for some as TechTimes reports that there is a chance only the premium iPhone 6 model will have sapphire glass as Apple may be saving its supply for the upcoming iWatch. Then again, the good news is we may finally see a smartwatch product from Apple soon.
