However, now there is a new app that may be able to help you delete those old social media posts. The app is called Clear and was created by Ethan Czahor.
Clear can connect with your Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, and once connected it will analyze your history and flag posts that contain potentially inappropriate content.
Czahor was hired as Jeb Bush’s chief technology officer, but in February, a day after he was hired, old Tweets surfaced, and they were taken out of context, according to Czahor. Czahor ended up resigning from his position, and he said he started receiving messages from people who were worried that what happened to him could happen to them, and other stories inspired him to create the app.
Clear is able to identify certain keywords, as well as zero in on posts that mentions groups of people, such as nationalities, women, LGBT community and so forth.
Posts with negative language are highlighted via IBM’s Watson, and then you can decide whether or not you want to delete those posts.
The app is still a work in progress, and Czahor said the app’s accuracy will increase over time, and in the future the app will support identification of embarrassing photos.
As of now, the app is available on the iOS platform and it is in Beta.
