By Tim Sandle     Nov 17, 2017 in Technology
2017 has seen a rapid pace of digital transformation and this is set to increase further into 2018. Magnus Jern, Chief Innovation Officer at DMI has provide Digital Journal readers with four key trends to watch out for next year.
The company DMI is at the center of digital technology products and the company describes itself as the first end-to-end mobility company. Specialisms include mobile strategy, UX, web, and app development, omni-channel commerce, brand and marketing, IoT and big data analytics, and secure device and app management.
Magnus Jern is DMI’s Chief Innovation Officer. He is responsible for driving innovation, thought leadership, and mobile transformation across DMI globally. Through his work he is well place to provide insight into forthcoming digital transformation trends that are set to disrupt businesses further.
Blockchain grows up from FiServ
According to Mangus Jern, blockchain "will take use cases beyond the financial realm to prove and validate what looks to be an increasingly fundamental technology moving forward, and 2018 will be the year this foundation is laid."
Internet of Things moves from tactics to strategy
Jern notes that "history has shown more Internet of Things (IoT) projects fail than succeed before they are even launched. This year IoT projects will be fueled by more strategy, enabling initiatives to become transformational not just an incremental adjustment.
AI investments heat up
Over the next few years, according to Jern, "virtually every app, application and service will incorporate some level of artificial intelligence (AI)."
He adds "AI is only as good as the data that goes into it, so organizations are expected to continue investing in data scientists, in addition to developers, in an effort to improve the quality of data before integrating it into AI projects."
Digital Transformation looks inward
Focusing on the overarching paradigm, Jern notes: "Digital transformation starts by transforming internally by aligning business with IT and adopting a human-centric, design-thinking approach and strategy. The innovators of 2018 will take an inside-out approach (from digitizing internal process to mobilizing the workforce) to transforming their business through technology."
