Facebook's launched a dedicated "Creator" app to encourage video broadcasters to create and share content for its platform. It provides a unified experience to help you manage video campaigns, including analytics tools and basic editing facilities.
The Creator app was announced by Facebook this week. It's a "one stop shop" to create and manage video content for Facebook pages. While it's oriented towards influencers and marketers, Facebook says "creators of all kinds" can use the app to help them share videos on its platform.
The app comes with a selection of exclusive tools to help you create live broadcasts and add real-time overlays. You can create professional intros that display when a new viewer joins the stream, add interactive live stickers to the viewfinder and display branding graphics from within the stream. Cross-posting facilities are available to let you create content once and share it across different Facebook platforms such as Live and Stories.
Creator also houses a new centralised suite of analytics tools. You can monitor engagement and jump into conversations with your fans. The combined messages inbox surfaces comments, messages and interactions left on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. It gives professional streamers and influencers a much simpler way to stay engaged with their communities.

The app's launch demonstrates Facebook's increasing interest in video content. The company is trying to convince creators to view it as an equal to services like YouTube. Dedicated creation tools could go some way towards establishing Facebook's image as a video sharing platform in its own right. The company said it wants to help influencers "find their community" on Facebook, making it more likely they'll continue uploading content.
"We understand that creators have specific needs, and we're committed to helping them on their journey as they grow and find their community," said Facebook. "As part of this commitment, we're announcing two initiatives to help creators unleash their creativity: an app that helps creators manage their presence on Facebook and a central destination where creators can get the resources they need to improve and grow."
The Facebook Creator app is available from today on iOS. An Android version will be available "in the coming months." There's currently no restrictions on who can access the app so you can sign-up as an individual and use it to share posts to your personal profile. Creator's accompanied by a new dedicated Facebook Creators website which houses information and tips on creating content for Facebook.
