Dell releases its most powerful 12” full rugged tablet yet

Dell’s new device is designed to be the go-to device for workers from first responders and public safety organizations to service utilities’ organizations. The new tablet is intended to will help facilitate long lasting communication and computing capabilities to those who need it most, when working in the field.

The tablet is called the Latitude 7220 Rugged Extreme, and it has been designed to offer performance and connectivity for what Dell describe as ‘ultimate field productivity’.

Under this performance banner comes a strong performance processing power, which enables the tablet to run a range of field applications. The tablet has also been designed to be reliable and safe to use in extreme environments (which include low temperatures, high temperatures, rapid motions, and where dust may be present in high quantities).

The tablet has also been designed to have uninterrupted power, and be capable of optimal screen interactivity and to maintain connectivity. There are also several integrated security features and the tablet is also designed to permit easy integration with existing hardware. Given that many of the tablet will be used for applications where computer failure would be costly, the design element includes avoiding any unplanned downtimes when using one of the devices.

With safety, the tablet is a FirstNet Ready™ device. This allows first responders tap into the power of FirstNet, which is the U.S.’s public safety communications platform.

According to Tom Tobul, vice president, Dell Specialty Products: “Dell Rugged customers are often operating in the most challenging, unpredictable environments out there, and constant access to their data can be vital to their roles. The new Latitude 7220 Rugged Extreme tablet offers the latest processors and several connectivity options in a compact, light device, perfect for those in the field.”
