Fury said he was only at 60-65 percent of his peak performance when he outpointed Klitschko and if the Ukrainian asks for a rematch, he could still unleash another 35 percent in his arsenal.
“I’ve got plenty of people to back that up. That was about 60-65 per cent of my arsenal last night and I can go up another level as well, so I can’t wait to get onto the next performance and do even better,” said Fury, who stripped Klitschko of all his heavyweight titles with a unanimous decision win last weekend in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Fury is confident it would be easier for him to beat Klitschko the second time around. But he also said he has some doubts if Klitschko would still want a rematch, knowing their first encounter was a one-sided fight.
“I’d love to come back to Germany, I’d love to because where better place to do it then beat him in his own backyard, where nobody thought he could be beat. Where everyone thought I wasn’t going to get a decision in Germany and everybody thought I was going to get played with and everyone thought he can take it as he wants, either knock him out or beat him on points.” he said.
Fury credited his uncle-trainer Peter Fury for his patience and hard work during the training for the biggest fight of his career.
“Me and Peter stuck it out through thick and thin, because don’t think it’s not been hard with all the cancellations and all the fights being put off and put back on and being messed around and being hard to match but we stuck with it and trained day in, day out, month in, month out, year in, year out,” he said.
For his part, Klitschko accepted his defeat, saying it was not his night and admitting Fury was quick with his head movement, preventing him to find his target.
“It wasn’t my night,” Klitschko admitted. “I wish I’d been able to land more clean shots but I couldn’t get the distance right.Tyson was quick, with his head movement. I congratulate him. He won the fight.”
While the rematch talks seem to have already started, no schedules or location for the next fight have been announced.
