“Tim Bradley is the (-400) favorite over Jesse Vargas who is the (+300) underdog. The total rounds is 9.5 with the over being heavily favored at (-700). These odds and more are available for betting online at Bovada,”betboxing.org writes.
Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs), is coming off a split decision draw against Diego Chavez last year following his first career loss to Manny Pacquiao in a rematch in April 2014.
Bradley is looking forward to more challenging fights with the ultimate goal of making it to the Hall of Fame. But first he has to beat Vargas on Saturday.
“I want to win another world championship at 147 and at 154 and then I’d even go to 160 for the right type of fight. I’d even fight Gennady Golovkin. I’m willing to face the best fighters out of there. I’m chasing the Hall of Fame. I want the best guys on my resume,” Bradley said.
During the weigh-in Friday, Bradley and Vargas both weighed 146.4 pounds. Bradley stands 5’6″ while Vargas is 5″ taller at 5’11”.
Despite Vargas’ superior height and reach, bettors still favor Bradley to win because of his experience against elite opponents including Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ruslan Provodnikov, Devon Alexander and Lamont Peterson, among others.
For his part, Vargas said Bradley is intimidated with what he brings into his training camp.
“I know that he’s intimidated and this is just showing it. He’s very intimidated and he doesn’t need to be worrying about my trainer because whatever happens on Saturday night, he’s guiding me to victory and we’re gonna beat you – and where are you gonna go from there, bud?” Vargas said.
With former Pacquiao foe Eric Morales in his corner, Vargas is confident he will beat Bradley Saturday night.
“We are taking this win no matter what. I want to make Erik [Morales] look good,” Vargas said via Fighthype.com.
“The whole team wants to look good. The whole team is based off of my victory…You are going to see a stronger and faster version of Jessie Vargas than you have ever seen.”
Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs), is coming off a unanimous decision win against Antonio deMarco last year in Macau, China to retain his WBO light welterweight title.
