Röhler has been the national champion of Germany in 2012, 2013 and 2015. This year, he increased his personal best in the javelin throw to 91.28 meters, proving to be a true force to be reckoned with.
With a throw of 90.30 meters, Röhler was able to win the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, leaving Kenyan javelin thrower Julius Yego in second place, with a throw of 88.24 meters, and Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago in third place with 85.38 meters, thus winning bronze.
Röhler was able to win German’s first javelin gold medal in 80 years with his Olympic victory. Most impressive was the fact that his marked his debut performance in the Olympic Games.
Aside from winning first place in the German Championships in 2015, he also won second place at the European Cup in both 2015 and 2014.
