Crawford and Postol are unbeaten in their pro careers with 28 wins each. Crawford has defended his WBO light welterweight title against Hank Lundy last February 27 via TKO at the Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Postol will be defending his WBC light welterweight title for the first time after his KO win over Lucas Matthysse at the StubHub Center in Carson, California last Oct. 3.
Top Rank’s Bob Arum, who promotes both fighters said negotiations are ongoing.
“We’re discussing it with both of them and trying to get the numbers right,” Arum said. “Negotiations are going on and we’re getting very close.” he added.
Postol’s camp had reportedly requested that the fight takes place in a venue outside of Omaha,Nebraska.
Earlier this year, the 32-year-old Ukrainian fighter expressed his disappointment over the camp of Crawford for claiming that they have offered him a fight on February 27 which he disputed saying he never got an offer from the Crawford camp.
Crawford has since fought Lundy for the February 27 slot.
“I never turned down the fight with Crawford. Terence is the opponent that I want to face more than anything. Immediately after the victory over Matthysse, I publicly stated that I would be glad to unify the belts in a fight with Crawford. But, unfortunately, I did not get any proposals or even heard about his interest in this fight,” Postol said
Other than the identical win records, they differ in age, height and reach. Postol is older at 32 while Crawford is 28. Postol stands 5’11” with 3 inches height advantage and reach of 74″ against Crawford’s height of 5’8″ and a reach of 70.”
