While he appreciates fighting for the first time at the Madison Square Garden, Crawford is becoming impatient with his trash-talking challenger.
“I love to give back…to my community…to the sport of boxing…and on Saturday night I’m going to give something back to Lundy. I’m going to show him that punches hurt a lot more than words,” Crawford said.
Crawford wants a quick work with Lundy, who is a southpaw and a former NABF and NABO lightweight champion.
“Lundy’s trash talk makes me laugh. But I don’t think he’ll be laughing too much on Saturday night. Deep down in his soul he knows what he’s in for. He’ll respect me Saturday. Don’t blink. It might be a quick one,” said Crawford, who is still looking forward to a ring date with stable mate Manny Pacquiao.
Crawford knows that Lundy will do everything in his power to pull off an upset but he said he’s ready for whatever Lundy brings to the table.
“With Lundy, I need to look out for head butts, low blows and elbows. He’s going to get rough in this one. But once he gets careless, and he will, he’s going down,” he added.
Crawford, who is unbeaten in 27 pro fights with 19 coming by way of knockout, is favored to win over Lundy, who has yet to win a major title in his pro career other than his NABF and NABO lightweight titles.
For his part, Lundy said, “It’s going to be a war. I’m going to be the new champion of the world. It’s going to be a new life for my family and for me when I go home as world champion.”
Lundy believes Crawford can’t take pressure as he notes how he reacts to his verbal attacks during their near scuffle in the last press briefing.
“He can’t take the pressure. I’m in his head. I have him. I’m going to beat his ass and he is going to feel these hammers.
While they both have the same reach at 70″ Crawford has a 2″ advantage in height at 5’8.” Crawford is 28 years old while Lundy turned 32 last January.
