Strange days for Tiger Woods, tooth knocked out, wears disguise

The tooth incident, agent Mark Steinberg said, came courtesy of a photographer trying to get close to the podium to get a shot, with dozens of other photographers and camera-persons, of Vonn, who set a new record with her 63rd World Cup Ski race win, the most ever by a woman on the World Cup circuit. Tiger got in the way.

“During a crush of photographers at the awards’ podium at the World Cup event in Italy,” Steinberg tweeted. “A media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged towards the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth. Woods’s tooth was knocked out by the incident.”

In a manner of speaking it didn’t matter as Tiger had a skeleton mask that he was putting over the lower part of his face, presumably to keep from being noticed, though maybe being accustomed to warmer climes it was to keep his face from winter in the Alps of Northern Italy.

Actually, Vonn, who had no idea her beau was going to be there, said Woods just happens to love the mask. So perhaps it was worn to let her who he was in the moment he approached her, without letting anyone else know.

“It was an amazing surprise. I’m so happy that he’s here,” Vonn told media. “Everyone important to me is here – my mom and dad and my sister and Tiger – it’s pretty incredible. I didn’t think it was going to get better than yesterday and today topped it.

“I knew it was him immediately,” she added. “He loves that stupid mask.”
