IBF Welterweight Champions Shawn "Showtime" Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO) is set to make his mandatory title defense in August against Kell Brooks (32-0 22 KO) at a venue that has yet to be decided.
Kell Brooks manager Ed Hearn announced Friday that IBF Welterweight Champion Shawn Porter will be making his mandatory defense against his client Kell Brooks on September 6th.
Shawn Porter is coming off of two spectacular performances. On December 7th of last year Porter defeated Devon Alexander and won the IBF Welterweight title. A few months later in April of this year Porter not only defended, but ran through former welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi, knocking him out in the 4th round.
Porter though may be facing his toughest opponent to date in Kell Brooks.
Kell Brooks's is a very dangerous heavy handed fighter, winning 22 of his 32 fights by KO. Brooks last four fights have not gone past the 8th round, as he has won all four fights by TKO (technical knockout).
Porter vs Brooks has the potential to be a very good fight, between two of boxing's young promising fighters.
