Ryan Lochte dropped by Speedo USA sponsorship

This was due to the fact that Lochte lied about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro, and subsequently caused a major controversy. He had made an apology over the Rio robbery.

Speedo USA announced via a statement that they have terminated their sponsorship of Lochte. As a result, they will donate $50,000 to “Save the Children,” which is a charitable organization that will aid the children in Brazil.

Lochte got emotional in an interview with Matt Lauer, best known as the co-host from Today, after his teammates Gunner Bentz and Jack Conger were held in Rio de Janeiro, following the vandalism incident, while Lochte returned home to the United States.
