Ronda Rousey takes a shot at Floyd Mayweather — and lands it

In a recent interview, the tough-as-nails MMA fighter also showed she has a stinging sense of humor. In the talk with Access Hollywood to promote the movie Entourage — she does some acting in the film — Rousey was asked about Floyd Mayweather.

Her answer provided a good punch line, that despite the fact it brought up a subject that must be approached sensitively — domestic abuse. What she said reminds us his past is replete with domestic abuse charges and convictions, including a 2011 conviction for hitting an ex-girlfriend in front of their children that saw him serve 60 days.

It also serves as revenge, that because after being asked about Rousey, Mayweather once said that he had no idea who she was; his remark got a lot of play in the press. Here’s the exchange Rousey had with Access Hollywood that gave her that measure of revenge and brought to mind his past:

ACCESS HOLLYWOOD: Mayweather’s undefeated. You’re undefeated. The general thought is, we’d love to see you guys get in the ring. Could you take him down? I know it’ll never happen, but just–

RONDA ROUSEY: Well, I will never say that I can’t beat anyone. I don’t think that me and him would ever fight – unless we ended up dating.

Not surprisingly Mayweather, who beat Manny Pacquiao just three weeks ago, hasn’t issued a response to her words. He and his handlers tend to underplay or outright ignore any references to his past as an abuser of women, so a response wasn’t expected.

However, whether he admits it or not, her verbal shot must have stung.
