Morris won after she cleared the bar at 4.80 meters in her first attempt. She also attempted a world leading mark at 4.94 meters once, but was unsuccessful.
Katie Nageotte came in second place with a clearance of 4.70 meters. Jenn Suhr finished in third place with 4.60 meters.
This was Morris' second consecutive win in the women's pole vault in the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championship level. She also holds two national indoors championships (2016 and 2017) to her credit.
Earlier this year,
Morris won her first-ever gold medal at the 2018
IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Morris took home the silver medal in the women's pole vault.
