article image'Raptors vs. Dinosaurs': Toronto Sun trolls Nets vets

Toronto - As the NBA playoffs got underway with a first-round matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors, there was much trash talking in Toronto as the Raptors' general manager and one of the city's leading newspapers brazenly dissed the opposition.
First there was Saturday's edition of the Toronto Sun, which mercilessly mocked aging Brooklyn stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett while evoking the old 'yo momma' disses that are more appropriate for a junior high school playground than a major big-city daily, even if that daily is the property of "Fox News North."
"RAPTORS VS. DINOSAURS," screamed the Sun, trolling Nets stars Kevin Garnett (37) and Paul Pierce (36) for their advanced ages.
The sophomoric Sun sandpapered salt into the wound by adding a footer featuring mascot The Raptor, a dinosaur known in Brooklyn as Torontosaurus Douche, and the caption, "Garnett and Pierce are so old the Raptor had to ask his dad about them."

Then there was Raptors GM Masai Ujiri, who while addressing a fan rally outside Toronto's Air Canada Centre prior to Game 1 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, shouted "F--- Brooklyn!"
The T-dot trash talk has raised eyebrows and ire south of the border. Raptors GM Ujiri was forced to apologize for his profane proclamation that seemed more, well, brash Brooklyn than mild-mannered Canadian.
While acknowledging his "wrong choice of words," Ujiri, who originally hails from Nigeria, reiterated his dislike for the Nets. At least one Raptors player had Ujiri's back.
"He's a very passionate man," point guard Kyle Lowry said of his GM. "I'm with him 100 percent. If he said 'f--- 'em,' we all say 'f--- 'em!"
But it was the Raptors who were well and truly, well you know, at game time as Deron Williams and Joe Johnson led Brooklyn to a decisive 94-87 victory, a win sealed by Methuselah Pierce's nine fourth quarter points.
