The weekend boxing event dubbed “Philippines vs The World” is part of the long-running series of boxing events in the Philippines known as “Pinoy Pride” which is now on its 33rd episode. It will also be known in the Philippines as “Pinoy Pride 33.”

Pinoy Pride 32nd episode was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates last month with brothers Jason and Albert Pagara winning their fights against Mexican opponents in the main event.

ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer has been working on ALA’s US debut even before the holding of “Pinoy Pride 32” in Dubai.

“It should be an exciting card,” Aldeguer told Philstar’s Abac Cordero in a phone conversation.

The weekend event will have WBO and The Ring Light Flyweight World Champion Donnie Nietes as the main attraction. He will stake his titles against Juan Alejo(21-3-0, 2 KOs) of Mexico.

“It’s Donnie’s first time in the United States and finally he could get the attention he deserves,” Aldeguer said.

Supporting bouts for “Philippines vs The World” include Jason Pagara Albert Pagara and Mark Magsayo.

Jason will face challenger Santos Benavidez (25-7-2, 19 KOs)of Nicaragua while Albert will battle William “Chirizo” Gonzalez (27-5-0, 23 KO’s) also from Nicaragua. Magsayo is set to square off with Yardley Suarez of Mexico, who is unbeaten in 13 pro fights with eight coming by knockout.

“We feel that the opponents of Albert, Jason and Mark will give them the test that they need to go up the ladder,” Aldeguer added.

ALA’s first foray in US market is being launched in collaboration with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation through its global network, The Filipino Channel (TFC).
