article imagePhilippine-based ALA Promotions makes successful debut in U.S.

All four boxers of the Philippine-based ALA Promotions have won impressively against their respective opponents in the just-concluded weekend boxing event dubbed "Philippines vs The World' at the StubHub Center in Carson California Saturday night.
The four ALA fighters include Donnie Nietes, the longest reigning Filipino world flyweight champion, and the Pagara brothers — Jason and Albert and Mark Magsayo.
Nietes fought Juan "Pinky" Alejo of Mexico to retain his world flyweight title via a unanimous decision. Jason Pagara knocked out Santos Benavides of Nicaragua in the second round. Albert Pagara also knocked out William Gonzalez in the sixth round while Mark Magsayo stopped Mexican Yardley Suarez right in the opening round.
The victory of the four ALA fighters is significant for the Philippine pioneering boxing promotions company because it marked the debut of ALA Promotions in the U.S. market.
ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer has been working on ALA's US debut even before the holding of "Pinoy Pride 32" in Dubai.
“In the last five years, we’ve been working on it but we never expected this to finally happen,” said Aldeguer, who considers the US card a dream come true for him and his father Antonio.
"It took him weeks to finalize the card, the first US stint for ALA Promotions, which needed four years to secure their license in California," Philstar's Abac Cordero said.
"Aldeguer has bigger plans on the drawing board in partnership with giant network ABS-CBN and its international arm, The Filipino Channel (TFC)," he added.
The Pagara brothers together with Nietes and Magsayo are expected to continue training in the US in preparation for their next fights.
