article imagePGA Tour News: Tiger Woods still unsure of return date to golf

By Larry Seely     May 5, 2014 in Sports
A back injury that required surgery to repair and cost Tiger Woods a spot in the 2014 Masters is healing nicely, but the man chasing the most Major Championships in golf history is still unsure about when he will return to the game he loves.
Tiger did let fans inside his struggles with a post on his blog Monday. Despite reports from ESPN stating he would be back for the Open Championship in July, he wrote that no timetable is set as the injury could take upwards of a year to heal, but his overall conditioning and well being has been a blessing and should speed the process along more quickly.
Woods stated that not playing in Augusta last month wasn't that tough, in fact watching Fred Couples in contention was fun, but it turned a bit sour when the veteran fell off the leader board on Sunday.
Despite some recent chipping and putting drills, Tiger has yet to start swinging a golf club. He does have updates with his doctors every couple of weeks and still has some soreness from the incision, but he has missed golf tournaments in the past with injuries and surgery is nothing new for the former number one player in the world.
The biggest concern is the overall health as injuries have played a bigger role in recent years and what once looked liked a certainty of catching Jack Nicklaus, now appears to hinge on his knee and back and how much longer his body can take the violent swing action.
