Pacquiao winding down Phl training, moves camp to L.A. Saturday

Pacquiao is set to face former WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in a trilogy fight on April 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao’s long-time trainer Freddie Roach has been preparing Pacquiao for rigorous training and sparring sessions since his arrival in the Philippines about three weeks ago.

Roach and Pacquiao were joined by Ghislain Maduma of Montreal, Canada and Lydell Rhodes of the U.S., who served as Pacquiao’s sparring partners for the first phase of training in GenSan.

“Pacquiao will fly to Los Angeles tomorrow to resume training in Roach’s own Wild Card Gym,” Philstar’s Abac Cordero writes.

Since the start of his training camp in GenSan less than four weeks ago, Pacquiao has been at the receiving end of criticism brought about by his same-sex marriage stance which drew outrage from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community.

As the burning issue simmered with his public apology statement, Pacquiao was again confronted with another major issue that threatens his April 9 fight.

A fellow senatorial candidate and a former senator filed a petition with the election body asking for the postponement of his fight due to possible violation of existing election rules.

Pacquiao has claimed that he isn’t affected by the controversies and assured his fans that he will give them a good fight on April 9.
