Pacquiao is now saying that his career path in boxing is dependent on the outcome of his fight next Saturday.
In a select media gathering on Monday, Pacquiao explained that nothing has been decided on his fight plan for next year.,
“I don’t know yet,” Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38 KOs) said of fighting in 2017. “My focus is on this November fight. We’re not yet thinking about fighting in 2017.
“One (fight) at a time. We cannot say “yes” right now. You can ask me after the fight, on November 6,” Pacquiao added.
Pacquiao has been undergoing rigorous training for the Vargas fight and it is the first time in his fight history that he is working full time as a senator while training for his next fight.
When he was serving as the lone representative of his province to congress, Pacquiao chose boxing over his job as congressman. He was widely criticized for being an absentee legislator.
Now that he has been elected to the upper house, he needs to work full time because he was elected on his campaign promise that he will give priority to his job as senator. True to his promise, Pacquiao recorded a 100 percent attendance and has not missed a single session in the senate.
Pacquiao isn’t sure if his experiment about taking two full time jobs at the same time will work in his favor. The result of his experiment will be known after the fight on Nov. 5. Until then, Pacquiao can’t tell what is in store for him in 2017.
