Koncz said that while he isn’t closing the door on the Mayweather fight, his camp cannot wait until Mayweather decides when he pleases.
“I truly don’t believe that Floyd is going to step up to the plate and fight us because he doesn’t give two s–ts about his fans,” Koncz told RingTV.com. “We’re not going to sit around waiting for him. We haven’t closed the door on it, but we’re not going to sit around waiting, so we’re looking at other options.
Koncz revealed he is considering Amir Khan as one of Pacquiao’s next opponent. Khan is a former sparring partner of Pacquiao when he was training under the supervision of trainer Freddie Roach, who is Pacquiao’s longtime trainer.
Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has also mentioned unbeaten Jessie Vargas as another option for Pacquiao’s next fight.
Likewise, former Mayweather opponent Marcos Maidana of Argentina had also expressed his desire to fight Pacquiao.
Arum has confirmed Pacquiao’s earlier statement that he has agreed to everything that Mayweather wanted and expressed frustration for Mayweather’s indecision.
“We finished talking, nobody has come to us and said, ‘OK.’ I mean, we’ve finished, they’ve asked us to agree to this, agree to that. We agreed to everything,” Arum told boxingscene.com.
“When you agree to everything, then you wait for confirmation that the other side is in. We assumed all along that they were in. Otherwise, why are they f—ing with us?”
Pacquiao is currently in the US to promote his documentary firm “Manny” and he will travel to England over the weekend on invitation from Prince Harry. He will return to the US to act as one of the judges in the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant to be held on Jan. 25 in Florida.
