Pacquiao flew in from the U.S. Saturday after promoting his new documentary film “Manny” and acting as judge in the recently-concluded Miss Universe Beauty Pageant in Florida.
While in the U.S., Pacquiao made a side trip to London late last month for a brief meeting and dinner with Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace. Later he met with former sparring partner Amir Khan for a possible fight in UK or in the US in case the unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather walks away from the ongoing talks.
In Florida, Pacquiao met briefly with potential foe Floyd Mayweather during the halftime break of the NBA game between Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. Later Mayweather, who has a house in Florida met again with Pacquiao in his hotel where he was staying to settle pending issues related to the ongoing fight talks.
Right after his return to the Philippines, Pacquiao reclaimed his basketball coaching job to steer his Kia Carnival team to what could have been their second victory in the ongoing Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) tournament. Kia Carnival is one of the newest members of the the country’s pro basketball league.
When asked about the ongoing fight talks with Mayweather during his arrival at the airport, Pacquiao was tight-lipped about the prospect of the super fight.
“Antayin na lang natin ‘yung announcement,” (Let’s just wait for the announcement) said Pacquiao, who is reportedly playing in today’s basketball game between his team and Ginebra San Miguel.
Before plunging into training and intense physical conditioning, Pacquiao turned to his Twitter page to tell his fans of his early training plan.
“Spend time with my family before we start our formal training for the fight. To God be all the Glory,” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao believes that Mayweather, who is tasked to announce the result of the ongoing fight talks, will do so in the next few days.
